Costa Rica!
Cheap deals drive me to the beach. Or fly me, anyway. One of the first, real vacations I bought came from a radio announcement of a special package deal to the Bahamas. I thought about it for five minutes and then picked up the phone. It was a great vacation, once they got our hotel and room sorted out. Returning was not so cool. It was a charter cruise and they herded us like cattle.
Anyway, all those little details fade away when I remember all the fun I had on the Robinson Crusoe cruise, the markets, helpful natives, eating conch, and laying on the beach sucking back Bahama Mamas.
Here's another goodie! Costa Rica* at about the same price I paid for the Bahamas so many years ago. Of course, by the time you pay for everything (food, souvenirs, side trips, etc.) you've spent double the price. Who cares!
*You'll need to create a Travel Zoo account to see the full deal. Your mileage may vary as the price alters depending on your departure city.

A Vacation Out of This World!
What a great way to get away from it all! All I need is $200,000 and a way to get to all the VIP events. Let's both go. I'm sure we can come up with a mutually enriching barter.
Or you can work your way there by applying to be a space pilot.

Wealthy Spirit - Just what I NEED!
This lovely retreat is right up my aisle, along my path, in my way, and what I need. Especially, as I am always saying, at this time of year when I wake up to a house that's 62 degrees and relies on the fireplace and a rising sun to make it warmer. All day I strive to raise the temperature to a toasty 68 so I can avoid dipping deeper into cold overnight and thus, as the days of winter pass, avoid freezing my assets off. Let's both go – you and I – while the sun is anesthetized in the sky to visit the heat where it hides.
And, oh, yes, to deepen my spirituality. Which is where the "rich" comes in. (This has nothing to do with the reasonable fee or the fact that I am only a 12-hour flight from Bali.)

Yoga: The Luxurious Path
Ah, yes! I need this break so badly. I'm incredibly out of shape from forgoing too many daily walks while snowed in. I'm also feeling just a touch of isolation. Going away to an exclusive resort with fellow yoga buffs is perfect! Let's go together!

Run, Run, Run, Run ... run away

Time to run away to the Greek Isles. Yes. Oh yes. The best thing to do when one is unemployed is take a long vacation very far away. I'm accepting all donations.

why I don't travel
Why do we travel? Except for today, when it would be no trouble at all to pick up and go somewhere, I don't travel because it's annoying. But some days, like today, I want to be elsewhere absorbed in something entirely different and I don't want to be working like doing volunteer work or anything. Just out somewhere like maybe the Tivoli or a festival somewhere like Burning Man or maybe Oktoberfest, you know, absorbed by the crush of life. That's where I'd like to be today. So, send me a ticket and let's go!I wondered how that Times story (the link above) got made and realized they probably had a ton of travel photos and stories lying around and put them all together. I should try that sometime. Not that I have professional bits and pieces lying about but I suppose I could come up with a theme related to whatever stuff I've got around here. But not today. Today I am going to do something completely different as soon as that ticket you got for me gets here.

C'Mon Cayman
Yes, it's time for another air vacation. Not, of course, one enabled by air travel, but more in the vein of air guitar. Air vacation. And today's choice is the Grand Cayman Islands. Go there now! Click above, then click on the video link.
This is always better than working. Although I'm not really digging the whole family scene thing. It's all about me, don't you know.

time for an air vacation
Time to get away from this life and take a hike. Well, if I lived in Jamaica I could. Probably better to visit. If I lived there I'd also be working there. Terrible bummer.

Back Again, yet thinking of leaving
I've just finished making sure my finances aren't collapsing from my recent real vacation. While checking into the credit card account I checked out my rewards. Way up in the stratosphere is a trip for two on a clipper ship. All I need is 437,500 points and a partner.

happy new year
Ooops. I may have slipped up and pushed the back of my mind to the front. So, there it is.

nice but weird holidays
Those people are everywhere. On Match.com, on the streets of Richmond, at Target. They're all over. I'm good at recognizing them because I am one of them.
So, it's not going well and "girlfriend" suggested that I'm desperate, although if questioned I'm sure she would say, "No! No! I'm not saying you are. I'm just saying you shouldn't act as if." Uh huh.
For the record, I'm not desperate. Living alone is vastly under rated. Vastly.
I'm looking for something to do over the holidays. True I do have some things to do but I'm looking for that huge chargethat really big fun activity like staying at a resort in a sunny clime and using one day to hang at the day spa and have a massage, manicure, pedicure, etc. However, you don't find those kind of places for $200 for 4 days all-inclusive. Yes. I wish. On the other hand, since I'm not interested in paying for it, I must not really want it.
Great place to find discounted travel at the last minute: site 59. They have excellent deals on the Caribbean. For continguous 48 travel, however, Hotwire has more options and they clue you into the days when travel is the heaviest.
